This website is a resource that provides educators with innovative ideas and practices to help them design empowering learning experiences for their learners. To meet these goals, the objectives of the website are to:
Provide information on innovative teaching approaches, methods of learning, and education frameworks, such as transdisciplinary learning, design thinking, STEM education, and The ACT Project, to empower learners.
Describe the role and responsibilities of a STEM Specialist and how they contribute to the vision and execution of their school's STEM program.
Describe the role and responsibilities of a Educational Technology Integration Specialist and how they facilitate teachers in integrating technology into their classrooms.

Designing authentic learning environments where students rigorously apply knowledge and skills from multiple disciplines to solve meaningful problems and answer real-world questions. Simulate and directly utilize the behaviors, strategies, and practices found in successful learning environments to develop empowered citizens. Developing systems and habits of learning that render students future-ready, empowered citizens who have the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and learning abilities to succeed in their future professions, projects, personal lives, and civic duties.
I am currently the elementary Design Innovation Specialist at Singapore American School in Singapore. My responsibility at the school is to facilitate educators in integrating STEM subject areas meaningfully and purposefully into their curriculum to increase learner engagement and achievement, provide learners with real world experiences, develop their 21st century skills, promote creativity and innovation, and provide digital tools that are appropriate to each student’s learning styles. I model/teach the design thinking methodology to students to equip them with a creative, problem-solving toolkit that they use to bring positive change to people's lives.
I was also the former elementary STEM Coordinator at Korea International School (KIS) in Seongnam, Korea. As the STEM Coordinator, I contributed to the vision and execution of the school's STEM program, worked collaboratively with all stakeholders (administrators, teachers, students, parents, & community), assisted in the development and delivery of transdiscipinary STEM professional development, and attended grade-levels meetings to move all teachers towards independence in the delivery of transdisciplinary instruction and curriculum. I also created meaningful connections between disciplines, planned and executed opportunities for students to showcase their work within the school and community (i.e. fairs, exhibition, etc.). As the design teacher, I engaged learners through open-ended inquiry-based activities in the KoLAB spaces by modeling and teaching the design thinking process.
As a former KIS technology instructor, I provided learning activities that focused on technology skills and concepts students crucial to their development as 21st-century learners and citizens. As a former educational technology specialist, I offered educators professional development sessions and classroom facilitation to implement valuable tech-enhanced practices into their instruction and curricula.
I have been a conference presenter at the KORCOS conferences (2012 and 2014), the Google in Education South Korea Summits (2013 and 2014), Learning 2.0 (2014-2016), and 21CLHK (2018). I was the keynote speaker at a STEM conference called STEMapalooza (2018). I have a master’s degree in education with an emphasis on EdTech. My research focused on a 1:1 program implementation model that incorporated essential 21st-century student outcomes and support systems.
